SOCIAL, CHARITABLE AND HUMANITARIAN WORK

In recent times there has been a sharp rise in the numbers of citizens interested in making a social contribution. The Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft is dedicated to supporting social responsibility - in the sense of helping people to help themselves, an established Frankfurt tradition.

Responsibility
How can local responsibility be strengthened? This question led the Foundation to set up its first own grant scheme, the "StadtteilBotschafter" ("DistrictAmbassador") scheme. What does it offer? It's about individuals learning, through realising their own ideas, that they can do something positive for the place where they live and with which they are familiar. The "StadtteilBotschafter" receive both financial support as well as several training seminars and meetings with various personalities from Frankfurt am Main.

The one-year programme “BürgerAkademie” ("Citizens' Academy") pays tribute to the most dedicated volunteers from different non-profit organizations in Frankfurt am Main. The “academy” consists of seminars and practical workshops that promote understanding and exchange among the participants. There are also fireside chats with selected personalities from Frankfurt am Main, a training seminar on the development of personal skills and a “future workshop” that deals with strategies of volunteerism. Thereby the "Citizens' Academy" helps to create a common view on volunteering of various organizations and encourages the volunteers.

Christmas donations
The Foundation makes Christmas donations to the charity campaigns of the three major Frankfurt daily newspapers: the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Frankfurter Neue Presse and the Frankfurter Rundschau. The funds go to worthy Frankfurt institutions and individuals in need.
